How do you reset the computer after changing the battery on a 2002 Mitsubishi galant?

WHOA! This is a trick question. The computer should not need resetting after replacing a battery. The first step in any procedure requires you to disconnect the battery. This is so the computer doesn't receive any false codes while repairing the vehicle. Thus replacing the battery should have cleared any stored codes during the swap. If your car is throwing a check engine light, there is a sensor problem and you'll need a diagnostic code reader to retrieve it.

The relearn process for battery replacement on a Mitsubishi 3000GT involves resetting the vehicle's ECU to adapt to the new battery. After disconnecting the old battery, you should allow the car to sit for at least 10 minutes before connecting the new battery. Once connected, start the engine and let it idle for about 10 minutes to allow the ECU to recalibrate.
