Yes.. However, you must remove the intake manifold, but, removing the head is not necessary. Make sure you have a complete "Intake Manifold Gasket Set".
No, it will need replaced.
The head gasket on a 1999 Chevy Malibu is replaced by removing the coolant, intake manifold, and retaining bolts. The cylinder head can then be removed, the gasket replaced, and everything reassembled.
The lifters are not adjustable and must be replaced if failed.
You cannot determine this until you remove the heads. Either way the heads must be removed and the gasket replaced. After removing the head you need to have it inspected by a machine shop.
You have to remove the cylinder head to access the lifters.
Needs to remove the head for Reconditioned
The head gasket on a 2004 Kia Rio is replaced by draining the coolant, removing the intake manifold, and unbolting the cylinder heads. The head and gasket can then be removed and a new gasket put in place.
no fix for lifter.... must be replaced... remove valve cover, remove rocker arm assembly replace bad lifters.... put it all back together
Not without removing the head, the pistons can't be lowered past the crankshaft. If you remove the head you can remove the rod bolts at the bottom and push the piston through the top.
only way to stop lifters from ticking is to replace the lifter. ticking or noise from lifters is caused by parts being worn most times whenthis happens the nlobe on the cam that the worn lifter is on, is also worn,so you have to decide if it is worth paying for both to be replaced
No, they are located under the valve cover.
Could also be that a loose bolt has allowed coolant to leak into the lifter channel. Coolant will mess up your lifter and cause it to tic. Had that issue with an old CJ7. Was not a cracked head. I replaced the head at the same time that I replaced the lifter. Remember that you can put new lifters on a used cam, but not a new cam with old lifters.Has it gotten hot on you. Sounds like a possible cracked head.AnswerThe intake bolts on Chevy engines go into the water jacket so coolant can creep up the threads on older models; I would remove that one bolt and clean the threads and intall it with some sealer on it . The lifter noise I believe is not related to this. Next few oil changes add a can of Rislone oil detergent and see if that clears it up. I hope this helps you. Mark
