Yes it can. To much oil and the crank can turn it into foam. Which will cause a loss of oil pressure. This can lead to engine damage and over heating if you run it long enough.
Adding too much oil will cause your engine to burn off the excessive oil which causes a lot of carbon buildup in your engine and a lot of blue smoke out your tailpipe. If the oil level is high enough, it can contact the crankshaft and foam up. If the oil foams it can damage the engine.
while adding top end (valve train) lubrication, the oil will lower the octane rating of the fuel being used, cause massive carbon build-up, possible plug fouling, and lean mixtures that can cause overheating.
Too much oil can do serious damage to your engine. The excess oil will come in contact with the crankshaft creating a froth of oil mixed with air. This is a poor lubricant and will cause serious engine wear. Drain out the excess oil.
Yes.
Maybe you added too much oil? Overfilling can cause just as many problems as being too low on engine oil. Be sure to check the dipstick after adding oil.
Oil leak and overheating?
yes because it is a bloaded head...
STOP! Read the instruction manual or telephone the manufacturer that sold you the mower and get the specs regarding the type and amount of oil. Too much oil can cause damage and oil leaks, don't guess, observe the marks on the dipstick after adding oil.
head gasket, low oil or antifreeze, malfunctioning fans.
it will cause overheating and mess up your engine internal moving parts.
on the 1984 model, the 2.5L had oil control and cooling issues. The overheating would cause the the oil to thin out, leak and catch fire.
