Not usually. The alternator can fail to charge enough, or even fail to charge at all, but usually the battery would carry the load for a day or two. - The answer is to charge your battery completely, over a 24 hour period then check the alternator with a good meter. First check battery voltage with engine OFF, this should be 12.1 -12.4 volts. Now start the engine and do the same test, voltage across battery should now be around 13-14.5. If still the same as static test then the alternator is faulty. You may not necessarily have to buy a new alternator, in many cases you can renew the 'diode pack' for much less cash. - -Go to a Starter and Alternator specialist shop for advice on this.
The problem is probably the alternator. If the alternator fails to keep the battery charged the battery will keep the car running until it can no longer supply voltage to essential systems and the car will stall.
Alternator is not making enough power.
Bad alternator?
Alternator is defective.
A bad water pump can cause your car to stall if the bearing has failed or it is causing overheating. A seized bearing will put excessive strain on the engine and stall it out.
no
A fuel pump relay switch can cause your car to stall after starting. A malfunctioning fuel pump relay switch can cause your car to not start at all.
Perhaps an alternator test is in order. Typically, when the motor is running, the car gets it electricity from the alternator, not the battery. (At least that's the way it used to be, someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Many things can cause your engine to stall while driving. Running out of fuel will obviously cause your car to stall. A transmission fluid leak, causing your car to run out of transmission fluid will cause your car to stop where it is at. If your car battery dies your engine will stop. This could be from a bad alternator or from corrosion or bad/loose connection. In the fuel line, a bad fuel pump, not allowing fuel into the engine would cause engine failure. as could a clogged fuel filter. Other possible causes for your car to stall include Bad spark plug wires, problems with sensors, ignition problems, plugged exhaust system, starter relay problems or problems with your vehicles computer system.
No.
yes it will
Have the charging system tested. You may have a faulty alternator.
