Yes choppy tires can cause humming or a noise similar to mud tires... You can check your tire tread depth to see if you have choppy tires just look at the tread like you would look at the horizon. You can also run your hand across the tread and feel the choppiness. Choppiness can be caused by lack of an alignment or in worse cases... bearings, ball joints, shocks, struts, tie rods basically your suspension component's. I suggest to take it to your local auto shop and have them do an inspection on your vehicle its inexpensive and well worth it. Otherwise, its pointless to buy tires because you will be wasting money.
Certain types of tires may cause a brief humming noise after your initial acceleration. The transmission may also cause a brief humming noise.
will tires make noise if there choppy on inside
it could be your tires on the pavement.
The humming noise is dependant on the road surface/ tire tread and tire wear. If the tires are scalloped or feathered they will hum. Vibration may be a problem in your suspension or the balancing of one or more of your tires. You can run your hand over the tread (front to back and back to front) if it is wavy or the tread feels jagged/ sharper in 1 direction, you need suspension work and/or an alignment.
Could be many things but a front wheel bearing/hub assembly going bad comes to mind. Scalloped worn tires can give you a humming noise also.
If they are mildly "choppy" and you fix the reason they became "choppy", then rotate the tires as soon as the condition was discovered, they may clean up. It's worth a try.
There are a couple of reasons why a 2001 Audi would make humming noises from the back while it is being driven. The first thing to check is the tires. If the tires are fine, check the wheel bearings.
A humming noise in your 2008 Dodge Avenger could be caused by several issues, such as worn wheel bearings, tire problems, or issues with the drivetrain. If the sound changes with acceleration or turns, it may point to a specific component, like the tires or bearings. Additionally, a malfunctioning alternator or power steering pump could also produce a humming noise. It's advisable to have a mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose the exact cause.
It may be a wheel bearing making noise, or your tires may be way overdue for a tire rotation. Are the tires badly worn in some spots?
i would first balence the tires then try replacing the wheel bearings if the noise is coming from a specific area on the car In example left front, right front etc.
Bad wheel bearing.
The sound you are hearing could be coming from bad Tires. As the Tires Feather because of misalignment or suspension issues, they develop an uneven wear pattern. If the noise gets louder as your speed increases, this could be your problem. Get to a Tire Dealer and have your Tires and Suspension Checked. :-) Another noise that sounds like a tire noise is a wheel bearing going bad. IF you take you hand and feeling the tread around the tire, you can tell if there is a smooth feel or a wavy feel or choppy feel etc. Anything other than a smooth feel could cause a roar. IF your struts are original, they may be causing a choppy wear.
