i have no experience with that. but the block is only about an inch thick, and cutting part of it out only makes it weaker, and the size of the engine is measured with cubic inches, so your want to know if you can make an engine 100 ci bigger, i dont think its possible, but personally i think the bigger the engine the more oil drag slows it down, so if you can get the same liter size and same amount of valves, then the smaller engine will perform better, but get a little hotter.
no you cannot bore it to 340 but you can put a stroker crank in it and get to 390, 396 and even more
If a Plymouth 340 engine is bored 0.060 inches over, its new displacement can be calculated by increasing the bore size. The original bore of the 340 is 4.04 inches, so boring it 0.060 inches results in a new bore of 4.10 inches. The total displacement can be calculated using the formula for engine displacement, which is (bore² × stroke × π/4 × number of cylinders). For the 340, the new displacement would be approximately 350 cubic inches.
This is hard to answer without the engine size. There are magnums, 340, 383, 440.
It would probably be close to a 340 as the 340 is the same engine block as the 318. The stock 318ci has a 3.910 in. bore with a 3.31 in. stroke the very same stroke as a 340ci. The stock 340ci has a 4.04 in. bore. The .060 in. over bore would result in a 328ci engine. The formula for this is, 1/2 bore x 1/2 bore x 3.14 x stroke x number of cylinders.
slant 6, 318, 340, 360, 383, 400, 426, 440 some of these engines came in hemi's and magnum's
No, the 318 block and the 340 block are not the same. The 318 block is designed for the Chrysler 318 cubic inch V8 engine, while the 340 block is for the Chrysler 340 cubic inch V8 engine. They have different bore and stroke dimensions, which affects their displacement and performance characteristics. Additionally, the two blocks may have different casting features and design specifications.
440 engine or the model 440 dodge?
stock bore is 4.32 inches, so 30 over would be 4.35 inches
what determines when should bore and engine
Its only has the type 354 liquid cooled engine (340) but if it was the 9500 it has the type 454 (440). They both have a lot of power for what they were back in the day.
The A 340 is a large, long range commercial airliner with 440 passenger capacity.
The Bore of an engine is the tube that the piston goes up and down in.
