No, you should not use Dexron VI in a Ford 4R100 transmission. The 4R100 is designed to use Mercon or Mercon V Transmission Fluid, as specified by Ford. Using the wrong type of fluid can lead to improper shifting and potential damage to the transmission. Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the correct transmission fluid.
i just put 6 ltrs of dextron 6 in my 2000 Malibu
Yes dextron 6 can be used in applications otherwise requiring dextron 3
4r100
If the vehicle was designed to to use Dextron 3 then yes. Dextron 6 has replaced Dextron 3 for my 2001 Jimmy. The tranny dip stick says use Dex 3 but my two 2008 printed reference sources say use Dex 6. Dex 6 has replaced Dex 3 like 3 has replaced others before it. I think in this case either would be OK keeping in mind 6 is synthetic and more expensive. Lube Shop Owner.
Yes... Dexron 6 is the latest trans fluid and can be used in any application that calls for Dexron III
If the trans code has "u" its a 4r100.All 7700 series came with the 4r100 trans.
Use Dextron III ATF, but be sure not to overfill the tranny.
