Originally from when Briggs & Stratton started business in 1919, the engine's were built in Milwaukee Wisconsin to 1985 and well into the 1990's. Recently great production is very little from were Briggs & Stratton was originally started. These day's there is great activity of Briggs & Stratton parts from China/Japan and Briggs & Stratton engine blocks being casted in Mexico. Truley a great devistation to a once GREAT engine. Which is why alot of people like myself will no longer recommend a Briggs & Stratton engine. Today your best bet is Kohler (still U.S. produced), Kawasaki or Honda.
Fix the oil? You don't fix it you just change it every 50 hours.
On the bottom of the mower, it takes 3/8" socket driver (no socket) to remove it
20 oz. when bone dry, but only about 16 oz. will come out during an oil change.
20 oz. if fully drained, 16 oz. will usually be used in an oil change.
Murray filed bankruptcy years ago, they was kinda absorbed by Briggs & Stratton Corpration, because Murray did owe Briggs a chunk of change... Briggs also owns Snapper now, if you look at the new Snappers you will notice they sure look like Snapper.....wonder why.....
No summit will sale you a kit
A Briggs & Stratton 6.75 engine typically requires about 18 ounces (or 0.54 liters) of oil for a standard oil change. It's important to use the recommended oil type, usually SAE 30 or 10W-30, depending on the operating conditions. Always check the engine's manual for specific oil capacity and recommendations for your model.
