We would probably call the "Do Not Remove" cap the radiator cap. In most cars that cap is on the radiator. First - NEVERremove the cap unless the engine is stone cold. Hot water and steam could blast out of the radiator and burn you! Normally you would add coolant to the overflow tank if you are just topping off coolant that is a little low. If you have overheated the engine or blown a hose and lost most of the coolant, you would have to remove the radiator cap and refill the system there. If this happens, check a repair manual for your car, because some cars have a procedure to purge trapped air from the system that MUST be followed, otherwise the engine could be damaged.

What causes the antifreeze to go to the over flow tank?

Antifreeze can flow into the overflow tank due to the expansion of coolant as it heats up during engine operation. When the engine reaches high temperatures, pressure increases, causing excess coolant to overflow into the reservoir. Additionally, a malfunctioning radiator cap or a cooling system leak can also lead to coolant being forced into the overflow tank. When the engine cools down, some of this coolant may be drawn back into the system.

How do you check coolant level on 1984 Honda goldwing 1200?

When you open the access door on the tank, remove the plastic tray that holds your items, the coolant over flow tank is on the right. Check the level, it is clearly marked for high and low level. If you find it is low, add the proper Honda coolant, other coolants might damage the water pump, to the full level. If you are having a problem with high temp. and the system is really low, then remove the false tank, 4 bolts I believe, and you will find the real rad. cap to the lower right corner. You can fill from there with a long funnel. Good luck.
