The COIL PACK TOWERS for the 4.2 L V6 engine are numbered : coil----3---4 pack---2---6 plug----1---5
The 4 cylinder doesn't have one. The 6 cylinder distributor is in the very back on top. Picture of engine to point out the distributor.

When changing the serpentine belt it is important to have a diagram. The diagram of the serpentine belt of a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo 6-cylinder can be found in its manual or a print out can be obtained at an auto part store.
It does not have a distributor, it has coil packs. Look at the link below.
In the "Supplement for 6 Cylinder Engine Model" of the 2001 Legacy Service Manual, under Mechanical - "V" Belt..... Or take a picture before you remove the belt !!!!!
