Yes, there are about 6 bolts on each side you have to remove, you do not have to remove the molding, just use the access panels, however you have to pull the center part out, (3000GT part) a bit to remove the tail light.
I had the same problem once and saved alot of money by doing it myself. You could remove the entire (or part) of the fender cover (under the fender) until you get access to the light housing. All you will need to do is unscrew the light and pull it out. The hardest part was getting access.
