On some vehicles yes. Please ask a new question with year, make, model, engine info and a brief description of the problem.
right hand side(passanger) rear near wheel, in a plastic case. Held down with 2 17 mm nuts. There are also two metal retaining clips that hold the filter bracket to the frame. So even after you remove the 17mm nuts, you still have to pull VERY hard to get the bracket and the filter off (you can also pry it carefully with a screwdriver). No special tools are needed, but you'll need to replace the two clamps that hold the hoses to the filter. They are one-use clamps and you need to break them to remove them.
Hey Jerry==Find the filter in the fuel line under the truck. Then there are special tools required to remove the flter available at the parts store relatively cheap. GoodluckJoe
an automotive shop should have the tools u need its a little plastic thing that goes over the fuel line and releases the clip inside the filter
I found it best to have a mechanic do this. It takes special tools to remove the hose clamps. I also would suggest you do the same.
The answer below is correct on the location of the fuel filter but you do need a special tool to remove the filter. You can purchase this tool at any auto parts store for about 3 to 8 dollars. I bought the cheaper one which worked but it was a little difficult remove the old filter. I found it under the car. Poke your head under the car around the driver's door area. You'll find the fuel line and in that area is the metal in-line filter. I don't know how to remove it, but it appears its not something you can do without special tools and know-how.
no special tools just one bolt holding it in place on the frame under your gas tank side
No, normal mechanics tools.
It's located under the driver side attached to the Frame just in front of the O2 Sensor , special tools are required to remove fuel lines
No nothing special. However if you need a "wrench" to remove it I prefer a "Strap Wrench which can be used on oil filters up to a 6" (152mm) diameter. It Strong nylon belt will not slip. Use with 1/2" square drive tools."
In the fuel line under the van. Special tools are required to change it available at the parts store. Ford uses a special tool to release the fuel line from the filter. The tool isn't very expensive and usually comes in a set of several different sizes. Generally speaking, Aerostar fuel filters are located under the vehicle, approximately under the driver's seat. Big cylindrical doohickey strapped to a bracket, and uses special clips to keep the hoses attached. Later models like yours may need a special tool to disconnect the hoses.
I spoke to a Mercedes Service Manager and was instructed NOT to change my own filter. The filter itself requires special tools to remove safely. He also told me that the filter fitting designs have changed over the years and alot of the time not only the filter, but also some of the connecting hoses, need to be changed as well. Changing the hoses requires the back seats, floor, and wheel well to be removed. In optimal shop settings, it takes a qualified Mercedes mechanic over 2 hours to complete the change. I'm a pretty savvy DIYer when it comes to vehicles.... but this repair has real potential to become a Pandora's Box of issues. Sorry folks, but i think this one is better left to the professionals.
Trace the fuel lind from the tank to the engine and the filter can be changed with special tools from the parts store.
