The 2.4 liter - 4 cylinder and the 3.0 liter - V6 engines in a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant
are both INTERFERENCE ENGINES , according to Gates ( they make timing belts etc . )
When should the timing belts be changed on a 2001 Mitsubishi, Galant?
Yes, the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant is equipped with an interference engine. This means that if the timing belt fails, the engine's pistons can collide with the valves, leading to significant damage. Regular maintenance of the timing belt is crucial to prevent such catastrophic failures. Always refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for timing belt replacement intervals.
why dont i have spark on 2001 galant you might have to change your Crankshaft position sensor. i just had that problem with my galant after timing belt broke.
You did not indicate the year your Galant 3.0L was produced. I looked up a 2001 model Galant LS 3.0L, and yes, it is an interference engine. Replace the timing belt AND water pump every 100,000 miles or kiss the valves goodbye.
buy the manual, follow the steps. First check the compression to assure no valves are bent, tight valve clearance is a major issue.
if i remember correctly the 2001 still has an interference engine.....if your timing belt broke you surely pinged some valves.
yes
2.4l dohc balance shaft timing mark, crankshaft sprocket timing mark, oil pump timing mark and camshaft TWO timing marks 2.4l sohc balance shft timing mark, crankshaft timing mark, oil pump timing mark and ONE camshaft timing mark. it is complicated only that everymark must be bang on, if not the pistons will hit the valves and YOU get to rebuild engine.
yes it does
Bent valves are very common.
it's no more timing belts on Sienna's since 2008.It's timing chain
where can i get a fuse diagram for a 2001 Mitsubishi galant
