Just disassembled the master cylinder on my Mazda B2000. It had rusty looking gunk in it and had formed rusty brown deposits on the cylinder wall. It was working in spite of this until the rubber of the primary cup split. Rebuilt the slave cylinder not long ago and it was gunked up worse than the master cylinder. Had to remove some crusty deposits to get the piston and cups out of the cylinder.
The fluid for the clutch comes from the brake fluid. After the brake master cylinder, there is a clutch master cylinder which takes fluid from the brakes. Fill up the Brake master cylinder.
This is a hydraulic master and slave cylinder clutch, there is no adjustment. Check for a leak in the system, a faulty master or slave cylinder, or wear on the clutch plate.
There is no adjustment, The clutch it self is either worn out, Bad clutch slave cylinder. Air are no fluid in the clutch mastercylinder. Fill clutch master cylinder up with fluid, be sure to remove the little rubber cub that is inside of the clutch master cylinder before you fill it up, then bleed the clutch of all air. Then see if the clutch works better.
It is by the brake master cylinder
It is mounted on the front side of the transmission, It will have a black plastic line coming from it and going up to the clutch master cylinder.
If the clutch stays on the floor after you push in the clutch first check to see if you have clutch fluid in the reservoir, if you do then it could just be because the clutch needs bled. If that doesn't do it then maybe your slave cylinder needs bled or replaced. From what I have seen it is generally because the slave cylinder needs replaced. Not to confuse you but the things that make up your clutch system are the clutch master cylinder, the slave cylinder, and the clutch dampner. If it is because the clutch needs bled start with the clutch master cylinder then do the slave cylinder. If it is not because of lack of fluid then check up under the dash and see if the spring on the clutch pedal is attached. Hope that doesn't sound to confusing.
Clutch is filled up through brake master cylinder in dash board forward of driver, under the master cylinder are hoses for clutch and brake applications, so just check and fill if necessary brake master cylinder, yours a happy 1985 shuttle owner
You top it up via the brake master cylinder.
The clutch master cylinder (right next to the brake master cylinder) is leaking internaly.
In most cases they leak hydraulic oil out the back of the cylinder. Crawel up and under the drivers side clutch pedal area and look for fluid leaking inside where the clutch actuator rod enters the back of the clutch master cylinder. It should be dry.
It was the clutch master cylinder. It finally went completely out. I checked the slave cylinder, it looked and operated ok, so I assumed it was the master cylinder, I replaced it, it works now.
its under the flap at the front next to the washer fluid top up
