use 2 c clamps and push them in one by one or use one c clamp and a thin paice of either wood or sheet metal to hold them both down...somethuing thin enough to slide out once you have the shoe in.............dont forget to bleed out the brake line first to make sure there no pressure holding them out...good luck

How do you change front brake pads on saxo vts?

Loosen wheel bolts, jack car up and support properly, remove wheel. Ok there's 2 ways you can do it, the first way is to remove the wire clip on the outside of the calliper, undo and remove the 2 slider bolts, then using a screwdriver, push the piston back into the calliper and you should be able to remove part of the calliper that holds the pads inplace. The other way which i do is after removing the road wheel, undo and remove the 2 19mm bolts that hold the calliper onto the hub assembly, push the piston back in using the screwdriver and then remove the whole calliper, now as the calliper is off and away from the disc there is a big gap between the pads(where the disc sat) and it allows you to move each pad to the centre of the calliper and out. Easy. then fit the new ones and follow instructions in reverse remembering to torque up the road wheel bolts to something like 65Lb/ft.

How do you fix the rear disk brakes on a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix?

I will assume that you are dealing with stuck rear calipers which is very common. if this is the problem replaicement is required. on the other hand in order to push in the calliper it acully needs to be turned or scrued clockwise for it to be retracted to install new pads.

How do brake components work?

Basically, you push the pedal, which pushes fluid through a line into the caliper. The caliper has a couple cylinders in it. The cylinders get pushed out of the caliper when the fluid gets pushed into them. The cylinders push the pad agains the rotor, which is basically a disc attached to your wheel that rotates with the wheel. The friction between the pad and the rotor is what slows the vehicle. With drum brakes, the same idea except the pads are called shoes and they push agains the inside of the drum, which basically looks like a bowl, again, they rotate with the wheel and the friction slows you down.

Which wheels would the wheel cylinders be on if a vehicle has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes?

The wheel cylinders will be associated with the rear drum brakes. Drum brakes use a wheel cylinder to activate the brakes - push the shoes out against the drum. Disc brakes use a caliper unit to push a piston out and squish the brake pads against the rotor. The front disc brake pads are pressed against the rotor by pistons inside the calipers to slow the vehicle. Both are hydraulically controlled.

How do you retract a disk brake piston on a 1996 suzuki?

assuming that nothing else is wrong. when changing the brake pads use a big C-clamp or some vice grips to retract the cylinder. if there are two cylinders you may need to put an old pad between the clamp and the cylinders to push them both back in simultaneously.

How do you install rear brake pads on a 2000 Saturn LS2?

Don't remove your rear calipers! Simply drive the 2 push pins out from the outside in and the pads lift out after you remove the retaining spring. The hardest part is driving the pins out..sometimes rusted in pretty good.
