Loss of power, poor fuel mileage, converter getting red hot, and a blowing sound from the exhaust.
Your best bet would be to take loose the catalytic convertor and see if it is stopped up. you can run it like that for a few mins. to see if that is what is causing the problem. it might kick on a trouble code. I had a car do that ran fine then when it warmed up a little wouldn't go over 20mph. pulled catalytic convertor off and it ran fine. If that is the problem you can replace it with a generic catalytic convertor not one from the dealer to save some money.
There is no cleaner for a catalytic converter. If it is stopped up you must replace it.
Bad port on the spyder injector , or 0xygen sensor going bad , and pluging up catalytic convertor
Leaded fuel, an engine that burns oil... Not sure of ALL the things that can cause problems but those are sure high on the list.
there should be 2, 1 up-stream from the catalytic convertor and 1 down-stream on the ehaust manifold
It means the warm up catalyst on the passenger side is not working properly. I think that is the catalytic convertor and it will probably need to be replaced.
Buy a new one or keep beating the crap out of the one that is clogged.
The most likely cause is a stopped up fuel filter. Replace it and if that doesn't do it, check the fuel pump preasure. If ok, it could be a stopped up cat convertor.
You will have to have access to a scan tool. Autozone does this for free. Bank1=drivers side bank2=passenger side sensor1=before Cat convertor sensor2=after Cat. convertor also referred to "up stream" and "down stream" This just means before(upstream) or after(downstream) of the Catalytic convertor Piece of cake
If the converter is stopped up your engine will not run. cars that have a converter stopping up will have a different burning type smell. When you get your emissions checked, one of the items that is checked is the converter.
You bet it will. It will also used lots of fuel and have no power.
How can I tell if a 1995 torque converter is going bad the tranny slips and stops when it warms up.
