It should have a spring loaded automatic tensioner, if the spring is broke replace the tensioner arm assembly
You'll find an idler/tensioner pulley, which rides on an adjustable arm. First you have to loosen the locknut(14mm?) of the pulley , then tighten/loosen the adjuster rod (8mm?) to adjust the belt tension. Afterwards, tighten the locknut.
On a 1994 Nissan Sentra, the alternator is typically held in place by two main bolts. These bolts secure the alternator to the engine block, and there may also be an additional adjustment bolt used to tension the drive belt. Always refer to a repair manual for specific details and torque specifications.
Tighten it up!!
The headlights may flicker.
loosen adjuster bolts and take off belt......
One to two hours tops.
this happened with my 94 sentra just before the alternator died... i would take it to a parts store and have them test the battery and alternator.
To remove the alternator on a 1994 Nissan Sentra, first disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid any electrical shorts. Then, remove the drive belt by loosening the tensioner, and take note of the belt routing for reinstallation. Unbolt the alternator from its mounting bracket and disconnect the electrical connectors. Finally, carefully lift the alternator out of the engine bay.
could be a bad alternator or battery
wires from the starter to the harness are touching
I have a 1995 Nissan Sentra and the same thing happened to me about two weeks ago. The problem was a wire going from the alternator had gone bad. So your problem can be the same thing or the alternator. I had just replaced my alternator so I knew it had to be something else.
Remove the valve cover. Tighten bolts next to rocker arms. done
