The way I do this is old school.
Examine all vacum lines, conections, Ts lines and accessories.
Start car and listen, sit in drivers seat with door closed and listen with stereo and heater off, turn heat on fan on lowest setting, change to all heat cool and defrost, foot and AC outlet settings.
If by now you have not heard a hiss from a leak then the next step must be performed outdoors on a fairly wind calm day. Take a propane plumbers torch. Turn it on so it leaks propane with out lighting it. Move slowly past intake gaskets, vacume lines and accessories. The engine note will change for a split second.
Good Luck
I need to locate a vacuum leak in a 2001 santa fe, can you help?

Use carb cleaner or brake cleaner.
throttle posistion sensor or vacuum leak

Most likely a vacuum leak. Check vacuum lines, throttle body and EGR valve. Also the #1 reason is the intake manifold gasket leak. It needs to be replaced.
You have a vacuum leak somewhere. Trace the main vacuum hose fom the air intake until you find a crack in the hose.
As with any internal combustion engine, the vacuum leak can be anywhere on the intake side, including intake manifold gasket, cracked intake manifold, EGR valve, throttle body gasket and even the vacuum operated devices can contribute to leaking, such as the vacuum assisted brakes or vacuum operated vent system. Starting fluid can often be helpful when searching for a vacuum leak; search the likely places, listening for the the typical hissing sound. Once you find a place that you suspect of the leak, spray a little of the starting fluid. When the starting fluid hits a vacuum leak the engine RPM's change slightly. Good luck.

sounds like a bad iac motor(idle air control) or vacuum leak
Check the master cylinder. Occasionally the internal seals wear and intermittently leak. It could also be an indication of a vacuum leak or possibly low engine vacuum. Either way, you'll need to check into it a litle more.
YOU can get a shop manual find the diagram and trace your vacuum lines accordingly. make sure no lines are loose or cracked. if it is cold of morning, you may hear a leak. it is a high pitch whistle or whine. some old timers use starting fluid or wd40 and spray around suspected leak areas. if the engine speeds up after spraying a burst, it indicates a vacuum leak.
