How do you adjust the clutch cable in a 1991 Jetta?

if your problem is a sloppy pedal......... then you probably need to bleed the slave cylinder, not adjust the clutch cable. As you correctly point out, this is a cable, not hydraulic, system. The adjustment is on the top of the transmission, towards the front of the car, between the motor and the battery. IT is usually a big black "cable" leading into a 3" while plastic adjustment mechanism, before the actual cable itself exits and heads to the clutch release arm. In this case, you need 2 wrenches (13mm as I recall) and need to turn the white plastic bits until the clutch cable snugs up a bit.

How do you adjust a 1974 harley fx super glide clutch?

First adjust the cable adjuster so there's plenty of slack in the clutch cable. Remove the derby cover and loosen the locknut in the center of the clutch, then back the adjuster screw out until there is no resistance, about one turn or so. Next, turn the adjuster screw inward until it bottoms out (but not too hard) and back it out 1/2 turn and tighten the lock nut. Now adjust the cable so there's just a very small amount of play in the hand lever. If you've experienced clutch slippage in the past, there's a good chance the friction plates are glazed and/or contaminated with oil. Remove them, soak them in white gas (like Coleman lantern fuel) for several hours and allow them to dry. Do not use plain gasoline or any type of paint thinner! Then lay each friction plate on a piece of 100 grit sandpaper and rough up the pad surface by sanding in a circular motion. Do both sides of each plate and try to sand all areas equally until all glaze is removed. Also clean the steel plates with white gas and repeat the sanding procedure on them, then reassemble the clutch. If slippage still occurs, don't continue riding, it will only re-glaze the plates. Instead, adjust the three clutch spring adjuster nuts inward (equally) for more spring pressure. You only want enough spring pressure to avoid slippage so adjust in small stages.

How do you adjust the clutch on a 1986 Honda Prelude?

well.. first off i wanna say im not an expert and im not great with using the right terms for things, but i just had to adjust the clutch on my 86 prelude the other day.if you look on the driver side around the fire wall towards where your steering wheel is you will see 3 or 4 cords coming out.. for your clutch and accelerator and stuff.. if you look for the one closest towards you, u should see the clutch cable there. it's gonna go around the engine to the other side of the car near the battery.mine was kinda hidden behind some wires and hoses so you gotta look good.. you should see a white looking round piece with notches all in it. if you have a chilton book or a haynes book you will know exactly what it looks like.. anyways all u gotta do is get your hand down in there and turn that big white plastic piece clockwise to tighten it, or counter-clockwise if your wanting to loosen it. its actually kinda easy once you find it. and you shouldn't need any tools to adjust it. i hope this helps some.
