Take a look at the engine. If you stand on the side where the variator and the air filter are, to the left of the carburetor you will see a black cap-looking like part. its sitting on an oval-like cap which is held down by 2 or 4 bolts. You have to take the cap off, and you will see the mechanism for regulating the tention of the chain which drives the valves. From what Im thinking the problem seems to be in the valves knocking, which mostly happens due to the chain stretching out with time. Tighten the chain up a little bit, start the engine. As the knocking continues, turn it off and tighten again. repeat as needed.
go to scootdawg.com they have a free 200 page download for gy6 scooters. most 50cc are gyd or 139qmb.
how do you rebuild a Roketta 150cc GY6 engine?
I got a DF50sst and it’s a 20mm
To adjust the carburetor on a 150cc GY6 engine, first ensure the engine is warm and running. Locate the air-fuel mixture screw, typically found on the side of the carburetor; turning it clockwise leans the mixture, while counterclockwise enriches it. Make small adjustments, about a quarter turn at a time, and listen for engine performance changes. Finally, check the idle speed adjustment screw to ensure the engine idles smoothly without stalling.
on 5occ - 150cc gy6 qmb or qmj engines the rev limiter is part of the cdi programming.
To time a GY6 engine, first, ensure the engine is at the top dead center (TDC) by aligning the TDC mark on the flywheel with the mark on the engine casing. Next, remove the timing cover and inspect the timing marks on the camshaft and the engine case. The camshaft mark should align with the mark on the case when the engine is at TDC. If the marks do not align, adjust the timing by repositioning the camshaft sprocket as necessary and recheck the alignment before reassembling.
A typical GY6 175cc engine produces around 12 to 15 horsepower. However, the exact horsepower can vary based on factors such as modifications, tuning, and the specific design of the engine. Generally, GY6 engines are known for their reliability and performance in various applications, including buggies and scooters.
The correct spark plug gap for a GY6 50cc scooter typically ranges from 0.6 to 0.7 mm (0.024 to 0.028 inches). It's important to check the owner's manual for your specific model, as there can be slight variations. Proper gap adjustment ensures efficient combustion and optimal engine performance. Always use a feeler gauge for accurate measurement when setting the gap.

To set the timing on a 150cc GY6 engine, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke by aligning the timing marks on the flywheel and the case. Next, check the position of the timing chain relative to the camshaft and crankshaft gears; they should align correctly. Adjust the timing by repositioning the chain or adjusting the camshaft if necessary, ensuring the timing marks remain aligned. Finally, reassemble any covers, and test run the engine to confirm proper timing.
Beside a racing cdi box, the only thing you can do is use a offset key on the flywheel. Just a thought, one could elongate the bolt holes on the stater so it can rotate slighty. Warning playing with timing can have serious problems with engine parts.
How to adjust the Valves on a GY6 engine "A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THEY ARE NOT ON T.D.C. AND HAVE THE FLYWHEEL ON THE T INSTEAD OF THE 2nd LINE!" The correct mark on the Flywheel is You will see F and (T) Look under the letter (T) there should be 2 marks The second mark is T.D.C. not the (T). Line that 2nd Line up with the piece of casted thin metal you cannot miss it, Then look at the Cam shaft it should have 3 Holes "The 2 small holes should be lined up perfectly with the cylinder head mating surface of where the valve cover seals to the cylinder head" & "The one big hole on the Cam Shaft Sprocket should be pointing up at a 45 Dagree angle when you look at it while the other 2 are perfectly lined up with the Valve Cover & Head mating Surface" Best Setting for GY6150 vales is 0.03 intake and 0.05 Exhaust.
