Changing a 2010 Jeep liberty alternator involves the disconnection of the negative battery terminal first. Loosen the serpentine belt with a tensioner device or ratchet and then remove it off the alternator pulley. Disconnect the electrical contacts off of the alternator back. Un screw the mounting bolts and pull the alternator out.

Remove the old alternator, and fix the new one in place, then tighten the bolts and then fix the wiring back. Install back the serpentine belt with proper routing of the serpentine belt. Connect the battery back and turn over the engine. The battery light should not be on, but you should see a voltage of approximately 13.8 to 14.4V.
