How do you change the rear brakes on a 2000 Nissan Maxima since the break caliper won't press back like the front brakes?

If they won't press back then they twist back. This requires a special tool. There is a special tool we use at the dealership, however a large flat bladed screwdriver will do the trick just insert the screwdriver into the grove in the caliper piston and turn the screwdriver clockwise, However I strongly recommend that you open the bleeder valve on the caliper. This will make turning the screwdriver a lot easier, and more importantly it will prevent contaminated brake fluid from being pumped back into the brake master cylinder.-Tom Sutherland, Nissan Mechanic, Riverside CA ANSWER I was able to get a free loaner tool from my auto parts store to help crank the piston back in.... it needs to be twisted to go back in. My 1995 also had additional problems... namely the bolts that are mounted on the support plate ( holds the actual pads) were stuck/rusted. 3 out of the 4 wouldn't budge... they are supposed to move in and out freely. They have a rubber boot on that hold grease on the sliding bolt. These plates are easily replaced and the new bolts come with... about $20.
