To change the Transmission Fluid you have to drop the transmission pan. Make sure to change the filter at the same time. It is located under the pan and will come with a new pan gasket.
You do not change the trans fluid. It is a life time synthetic fluid.
There will be a fill plug on the side of the trans, fill it until fluid comes out of the hole and seal it back up.

as far as I know you can not add fluid because the trans. is a self enclosed trans.(if you have slippage, its time for repair.
A 2004 Ram 1500 uses ATF+4 transmission fluid only.
