You should not clean your weedeater fuel filter. I'll give you two good reasons.
1-The stone filter element in most weedeaters can only be cleaned on the outside. The sediment gets trapped on the inside. Cleaning might improve fuel flow for a little while, but sooner than later it will clog up again. Which brings me to my next reason.
2-Cost. A universal filter costs no more than $5.00. Go to your local outdoor supply store and pick one up. Replacement is easy; just take the old one off and push the new one back on the line. (Usually I snip the very end off the fuel line because it gets brittle from years of use)
Take the air filter off and clean it then put it back
