Drain all of the acid from the battery. Measure 7 to 8 oz. of Epsom salts and dissolve it in 1/2 quart of distilled water that has been heated to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the Epson salt mixture to the battery, shake gently, and charge it overnight.
yes. but don't eat or drink it. example: if you slammed your finger in your car door, you would soak it in Epsom salt.
Your car battery is a "lead-acid" battery. I'm not sure where you might haveheard about Epsom salt, but that's an easy and effective way to completelyruin the battery for good. If the battery is not sealed and you have accessto the cells, then when a cell gets low ... meaning the tops of the plates aresticking out above the surface of the liquid ... then you add distilled waterONLY to bring it up just over the top of the plates, and nothing else.
Measure out 250 grams (about 7 to 8 ounces) of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate). Heat 500 ml of distilled water (1/2 quart) to 65-degrees Celsius (150-degrees Fahrenheit). Dissolve the Epsom salts in the water. Avoid using tap water because it contains chemicals that will damage a battery.#Remove the battery cell caps. If you have a sealed battery, find the "shadow plugs" that cover openings to the battery cells. You'll need to drill through these. Drain any fluid out of the battery and then use a plastic funnel to pour enough of the Epsom salt solution in to fill each cell of the battery properly. Insert plastic plugs in the drill holes or replace the battery caps and then shake the battery to make sure the Epsom salt solution is well distributed.#Recharge the battery on a slow charge for 24 hours and then re-install it in your car. It should function properly. However, it's wise to put it on the battery charger each night for 3 to 4 days to restore it fully tothe maximum possible capacity
Mix 2/3 cup MgSO4 (drug store Epsom salt) with 1 Quart distilled water.Heat over medium heat in a sauce pan until water reaches 150F while stirring to dissolve the MgSO4 (Epsom salt).Disconnect and remove battery from car.Use a siphon to remove some of the battery acid unless the levels are low enough to accommodate 1/2 quart of liquid.Note: Always wear protective gloves, glasses, and chemical apron. Never under any circumstances should you let the acid from inside the battery touch any part of your body. It will eat through skin and clothing as it is H2SO4 (sulfuric acid).Add an equal amount of the MgSO4/H2O solution into each reservoir of the battery until you have used up about 1/2 quart of the warm liquid.Reinstall battery into car and try to start it.If it won't start, try jumping it or charging it with a battery charger, but this is not likely needed as all you are doing is removing the sulfate coating on the metal plates in the battery's cell. This method doesn't always work but if it does, it will not work more than 3-5 times so protect the charge on your battery and never let it go dead.I just tried this method on my car 1 hour ago and it worked like a charm!Good Luck!
From the book Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things Get rid of raccoons Are the masked night marauders poking around your trash can, creating a mess and raising a din? A few tablespoons of Epsom salt spread around your garbage cans will deter the raccoons, who don't like the taste of the stuff. Don't forget to reapply after it rains. Deter slugs Are you tired of visiting your yard at night only to find the place crawling with slimy slugs? Sprinkle Epsom salt where they glide and say good-bye to the slugs. Fertilize tomatoes and other plants Want those Big Boys to be big? Add Epsom salt as a foolproof fertilizer. Every week, for every foot of height of your tomato plant, add one tablespoon. Your tomatoes will be the envy of the neighbor-hood. Epsom salt is also a good fertilizer for houseplants, roses and other flowers, and trees. Make your grass greener How green is your valley? Not green enough, you say? Epsom salt, which adds needed magnesium and iron to your soil, may be the answer. Add 2 tablespoons to 1 gallon (3.7 liters) of water. Spread on your lawn and then water it with plain water to make sure it soaks into the grass. Clean bathroom tiles Is the tile in your bathroom getting that grungy look? Time to bring in the Epsom salt. Mix it in equal parts with liquid dish detergent, then dab it onto the offending area and start scrubbing. The Epsom salt works with the detergent to scrub and dissolve the grime. Regenerate a car battery Is your car battery starting to sound as if it won't turn over? Worried that you'll be stuck the next time you try to start your car? Give your battery a little more life with this potion. Dissolve about an ounce of Epsom salt in warm water and add it to each battery cell. Get rid of blackheads Here's a surefire way to dislodge blackheads: Mix 1 teaspoon Epsom salt and 3 drops iodine in 1/2 cup boiling water. When the mixture cools enough to stick your finger in it, apply it to the blackhead with a cotton ball. Repeat this three or four times, reheating the solution if necessary. Gently remove the blackhead and then dab the area with an alcohol-based astringent. Frost your windows for Christmas If you are dreaming of a white Christmas, but the weather won't cooperate, at least you can make your windows look frosty. Mix Epsom salt with stale beer until the salt stops dissolving. Apply the mixture to your windows with a sponge -- for a realistic look, sweep the sponge in an arc at the bottom corners. When the mixture dries, the windows will look frosted.
I have of course read much about the item of reconditioning acid lead battery by Epsom salt. My car battery was on its way of becoming bad (no longer able to attain a good specific gravity of the acid solution through charging it at home). During last charging despite using the max. current and time a sp. g. higher than 1.235 could not be attained. After adding about 15 ml of powder (dissolved in about 25 ml warm distilled water) to each cell I could bring the sp. g. to over 1.275. This fantastic rise I could never achieve before . I conclude that Epsom salt not only can be used to revive a dead acid lead battery but also prophylactically to maintain the battery in good condition and prevent its deterioration. I must also add that I by now do not know the prognosis of this practice on the long run. I was just struck by its ability to improve the battery condition so much! It is a marvellous agent.
Unless it's a sealed battery, it's possible. But you shouldn't. it's distilled water you should use if and when it's needed.
No, a car battery does not have mercury in it. It would be very dangerous to have mercury in a car battery.
there are lots more amps in a car battery eg there about 1.5 in a flash light and in a car battery there about 300 A car battery is a wet cell battery and a flashlight battery is a dry cell battery.
No merc is not in a car battery
You can get a new battery, you can jump start the car with jumper cables and another car with a charged battery. You can also put a battery charger on your battery to give it a charge.
A car battery's function is to store electrical energy for your vehicle. When you start the car the stored energy in the battery turns your car over and once your car starts the alternater will power everything and recharge the battery.
