You really need hands-on training in order to learn this. Specifics are going to depend on whether or not it has a wet line or if it's manual detach. Basically, you place wood dunnage under both the front of the deck, and between the neck and fifth wheel. If you have an air ride suspension, you drop your air bags so that the deck of the trailer sits on the wood dunnage (if your suspension lowers far enough, and you're not worried about scarring up asphalt or concrete, then you can do without putting wood under the trailer deck. At the base of the neck, there'll be either one or two pins (if it's two pins, there's one on either side). You pull these out, and it disconnects the neck from the rest of the trailer. You also have to disconnect the air lines and the electrical line from the neck to the trailer, as well. Separating the two is (or should be) as simple as pulling forward from this point. When you reattach it, you go in reverse order.

Bear in mind that, in the case of trailers from certain manufacturers, there may be an additional step or two (such as pulling the brake valve at the rear of the trailer). Seriously - do not try this without first getting hands-on training.

What does an RGN truck mean?

RGN refers to the trailer - it means Removable Goose Neck. The neck of the trailer detaches from the body of the trailer, and equipment is driven onto and off of the trailer from the front. These are usually referred to as lowboy trailers, but could be beam trailers or pontoon trailers, as well.

Does a tractor need a headache rack pulling a lowboy trailer?

It's supposed to have one with any open deck trailer, if the trailer doesn't have its own headboard (which an RGN won't).

What is the ground clearance for a tractor trailer?

That really depends on what kind of trailer it's pulling. If it's pulling something like an RGN lowboy, or double drop trailer, that trailer may only have about two inches of ground clearance.

How do you transport a dump truck?

You could drive it (or have someone else do it), you could rail load it, you could contract a tractor-trailer to transport it (depending on exactly what it is, this could require either a stepdeck trailer or an RGN lowboy).

What is the net weight of a 53 ft steel trailer?

Much too heavy for practical use. You'd have to specify what type of trailer you had in mind. As far as all steel construction goes, the only ones you'd find are 53' flatbeds and stepdecks, armoured van trailers (very uncommon, but they are out there), and equipment trailers (RGN lowboys, RGN pontoon trailers, RGN beam trailers, etc.). Weights vary greatly between them. As for a typical 53' van, the frames are steel, but the floor will be wood (or some use polymer), and the walls will typically be thin aluminum.
