After riding around MONTHS relying on the digital display, I was shown that all I needed was a heavy-duty magnet (industrial as I was told. I borrowed one from the auto shop that was changing my oil and did it myself after instruction). When the car ignition is off (IMPORTANT!!), simply use the magnet to directly on the face of the display and bring the needle counter-clockwise back to the proper side of 'F' as far as it will go towards empty. Then, remove the magnet and turn the ignition on and the gas needle will basically reset itself from there. THIS MADE MY WEEK.. MY MONTH, I tell ya!!!!!!!!! See discussion thread for additional info.
Can anyone tell me why my new battery goes dead in my 1997 Buick Ultra Park Ave?
No
Follow the positive battery cable from the battery. It will lead you to the starter.
Happens to every one of these cars...question answered here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_easiest_way_to_reset_the_needles_on_the_fuel_and_temperature_gauges_on_a_1997_Buick_Park_Avenue
Yes. They will also be lost if the battery drops below 12v.
The Buick Park Avenue Started In 1991
If you follow the positive battery cable it will lead you right to the starter. Mark
un hook the battery and let it sit for 30 min
is the battery dead? you might need a new starter that should be around 200 dollars.
To change the battery is quite simple. First disconnect the battery cables, they should be attached by bolts (I think 10mm) near the firewall. After those come off there should be a stopper holding the base of the battery to the tray. You'll need a deep socket and an extension to reach them. Take them off, pull the battery out and then reverse to put the battery back in.
check the charging fuse and the fuse able link on field wire
Depends on the engine the Park Avenue had in it.
