The easiest thing to do is use and impact gun if you have the space (and the tools). That should break it loose without having to hold the pulley. There is also a tool that plugs into the bell housing with a tooth that catches the fly wheel
If you don't have an impact wrench or the above mentioned tool, a method I have used is to take nylon rope and loop it around the crankshaft pully in a way so that it cinches tighter when it is pulled on. Then I tie the end of the rope to anything solid nearby. When you crank on the bolt with a breaker bar, it tightens the rope, holding the pully in place.
It's a big job. You have to remove alternator and air cond. belts. Remove crankshaft pulley, then remove timing belt assembly cover, then remove timing belt, then pull out crank sprocket. After that you get the old crankshaft seal out and put in new one. Put then everything back in reverse order. Done.
The 2001 Chevy Express Van crankshaft sensor will be on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft sensor.
Crank position sensor is located next to the crankshaft. In order to replace it you might have to remove the timing belt. In the most models you just can remove remove the timing belt cover and replace the sensor.
The 1994 Ford F1 50 crankshaft sensor is located on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft sensor.
The 2000 Mercedes-Benz E3 20 crankshaft position in sensor is located on the back of the crankshaft. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to see the sensor.
The 1997 Chevy crankshaft sensor can be found on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft sensor.
The 1997 Chevy Malibu crankshaft position sensor can be found on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft position sensor.
To replace the crankshaft on a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, first, disconnect the battery and remove any components obstructing access to the engine, such as the intake manifold and oil pan. Then, remove the timing chain or belt, and detach the connecting rods from the crankshaft. Carefully extract the old crankshaft, ensuring to note the placement of bearings and seals. Finally, install the new crankshaft, reassemble the engine components in reverse order, and refill the oil before starting the vehicle.
The 1994 Volvo 850 crankshaft position sensor can be found on the back of the engine. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the crankshaft position sensor.
To change the crankshaft on a 1994 Mercury Sable 3.8, first disconnect the battery and remove the engine from the vehicle. Drain the oil and coolant, then remove the timing cover, oil pan, and any components obstructing access to the crankshaft. After removing the main bearing caps and the old crankshaft, install the new crankshaft, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications for the bearing caps. Reassemble all components in reverse order, refill with oil and coolant, and reconnect the battery.
You may have to tap, with a small mallet, on the power steering pump in order to remove it.
If the engine is froze up, the flywheel can't be turned. You can use a socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt, work it back and forth in both directions and it might break loose, but I wouldn't count on it. Usually you have to take the caps off of the connecting rods in order to turn the crank.
