Loss of power, smoke, knocking noise, popping noise, backfiring through carb, or out tailpipe. Any, or, all of these.
The oem is a Rochester Quadrajet, but you could also use a Holley, Carter or Edelbrock, among others. It would be best to pick a carb that you or someone you know and trust knows how to tune. In the alternative, buy a book on tuning the carb of your choice.
I would get an Edelbrock performer 4bbl. intake manifold with a Edelbrock 600 CFM. carb, summit racing has everything you need. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Holley 650 double pumper for the win!
Setting one up all depends on what you'll be using it for ,, let me know well i had an old 72 nova and i had a 750 CFM double pump carb holley put out a 650 stay away from it i had so much trouble with it, i ended up going with the 750 and modified it , the best one i must say for having one that's got a carb
Every carburetor has the ability to provide good performance. Best to pick a carb for which you can get local support if it needs repair or tuning. I like Holley, but it's because I know how to tune one. I don't know if this is the best carb. for a 350 chevy, but if it is a 4 barrel I strongly recommend an Edelbrock 600 cfm. If the 350 is really hi pro., you may want to go a little bigger. although bigger is not always better.( this is only my opinion from experence.)
Do you mean it's flooding out while idling or is it when you are driving? Is this a Holley carb? There could be several reasons. Fuel level set too high, a leaking power valve and so forth. I need to know a little more about what you have to really be able to help. well its fine until i hit the gas to get moving then it doesnt want to see high rps but with it in park or neutral it will rev to 6500 easy as pie. it was the cam that was replaced at some point right before i got the engine and it was off a bit, and the pluming for the vacume was bad, runs like a raped ape fix it a while back
Yes, but if you're looking for performance, you might want to go with something bigger, like a weber dges. To get a holley 5200 to fit on your engine, you have a few options. The easiest would be to see if you can get a redline weber adapter plate. Check their website, http://www.redlineweber.com/HTML/application_guide/ISUZU.htm and see if your exact engine model is listed there. The weber dgv 32/36 carb has the same base pattern as the holley, the holley is actually a liscensed copy of the weber. Try to get an adapter plate for your engine off eBay or something, and the holley will bolt right on to your stock intake manifold your second option, if you can't find an adapter plate for your engine, is to have a machine shop make a plate or modify your intake manifold to fit the carb. A third option is to build a custom intake manifold, but don't even think about this unless you know what you're doing.
If the egr valve is stuck OPEN - the Engine will run Very rough & idle bad - or not idle @ all-if the egr valve is starting 2 stick IT WILL TURN ON THE CHECK engine light-Sometimes U can take the valve off & clean them with a GOOD carb cleaner.
it will lose power
I dont know what other egr valve will work, but I know they can be cleaned out and put back on the car. I have a 96 Paseo, and I soaked mine in carb cleaner and was able to get all the carbon out and put it back on the car and works fine.
Buddy Holley, I know that'll be the Day!!
I`ve found that in any vehicle if you can pour gas down the carb to make it run and you know the fuel pump is working (plenty of gas to the carb) than the diaphragm in the carb must have a small hole or crack which makes it loose pressure. If you rebuild the carb there will be one in the kit. Bad needle/seat valve? Float not adjusted properly?
