You can tell if the front 4x4 joints are bad by looking for signs such as unusual noises like clunking or popping when turning, vibrations felt through the steering wheel, or difficulty in engaging the 4x4 system. Additionally, visual inspection may reveal grease leaks or worn-out boots. If the vehicle exhibits poor handling or a noticeable increase in play in the steering, it’s also a strong indicator that the joints may need attention. Regular maintenance checks can help catch these issues early.
Bad axel shaft u-joints. U-joints bad in the front driveshaft. It would really help to know the year.
You are probably in need of ball joints and alignment. You really need to have the front end checked by a mechanic for safety sake.
sounds to me like your front end is not disengaging, bad actuator under battery.
BAD BALL JOINTS instuctions
I had the same thing, the pinion gear was bad.
That is doubtful. It sounds like you have a 4x4 vehicle and the front CV axles (or U-joints depending on how it is set up) are bad. typically you can first detect the joints going bad when turning in reverse. After a while, you will begin noticing the popping while driviing forward and turning if not repaired.
The universal joints in the front driveshaft may be going bad.
Probably bad u-joints in the front. Had the same.
this could be caused by a number of things, first check that shock absorbers are good. next check all ball joints and wheel bearings.then have king pins checked
Could be bad ball joints.
Upper ball joints need replaced
A knocking noise in the front wheels can be a very serious problem. The knocking noise could be caused by bad ball joints. Bad ball joints can slip off the tie rods and cause the wheel assembly to collapse. This problem should be looked at as soon as possible.
