To line up the timing belt on a 1994 Geo Metro, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the number one cylinder. Align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys; the crankshaft mark should be at the 0-degree position, and the camshaft mark should align with the indicator on the engine. Once aligned, place the timing belt over the pulleys, ensuring it is taut and properly seated in the grooves. Finally, double-check the alignment before reassembling any components.

How do you replace the timing belt on a 1994 Geo Prizm 1.6?
Luckily in the Geo the valves never travel down far enough for the piston to hit it so even with the timing belt broken its safe you can crank the car over til your blue in the face with out hurting anything.
the only belt with a tensioner is the timing belt, to tighten the alt belt loosen the adjustment bolt then tap the alt back then retighten the bolt
