If you put the spark plug leads back on in the wrong order the engine will most certainly miss fire. The best way is to find the number one spark plug wire and then follow clockwise the firing sequence for the engine.
you must check the firing order and compare that to the order on the distributor. Ask your dealer for this info, or get a book.
You should have had the #1 piston at TDC, and marked the location of the distributor. You could then just reverse everything. Now you are going to have to get the #1 piston at TDC, install the distributor with the rotor pointing to the #1 plug position on the distributor cap. A good repair manual will help with all this if you can't get it done. Most auto parts stores sell them. Faceing the engine from the front, the #1 plug is the first one on your right, driver's side, the fireing order is 18436572.
what do you mean by get the numbers?
Number 1 plug position will be listed on the cap. Now if you know the firing order, and you know the direction the distributor is turning, you then will know plug positions as connected to the distributor cap.
First start by removing the elecrtical plug, then remove the coil and spark plug wires. Now losen the valve cover bolts(don't worry the gasket reseals upon reassembly) now remove the two bolts that hold the distributor against the head, now gently slide the distributor out , do not under any circumstances pry on the distributor where it bolts to the motor, the distributor casing could break(speaking from experience) to reassemble follow steps in reverse order(make sure you do not turn the motor over with the distributor out because you could screw up the timing)
Ok bare with me here.....when you are in front of your car looking down at the motor you see 4 plugs...now the far right plug is number 1....so technically as you look down at your motor(left to right) it would 4 3 2 1. Now the distributor goes clockwise when it fires and it has 4 spots as well only it looks like this 00 12... 00 43 that showing the numbers...they have to go on the distributor in that exact order being that the rotor spins clockwise...so match the numbers and you should be good. Spark plug gaps are 0.039-0.043 I hope you understand my diagram.
You have most likely changed the order at which the plugs are hooked up to the distributor, how car care friendly is ya? If you are very you'll understand what I mean right off. If not the firing order of your truck is something like 2513867 or smothering weird yet the firing order of your distributor is 12345678... See where I'm getting at you need you distributor to fire 1 to cyl 1 and next not cyl 2 but what ever is in the firing order. The firing order should be stamped on your intake or on the block somewhere. Also some crap shack like orilies can tell you what it is... That help? Now send me some Obey for answering this bulls question
This will be up to you and if the circumstances of your situation is different. But right now the two of you needs to talk and see where it will leads both of you..
The firing order is 1-3-4-2. Count from front of engine 1 -2-3-4. 4 in back. Now under your distributor cap is a rotor. Remember were the rotor is pointed to. Now set the distributor cap back on. The firing order will start at the post that the rotor was pointed. That post will be No: 1. Put the plug wire on it & on your fist plug in front of engine. Now looking at the distributor, go {clock wise} to the next plug wire on the distributor & it will be N0: 3. Put it on the 2nd plug from front to back of engine. Do the same steps for the next two 4 & 2. As long as you have not taken the hole distributor out of the engine. all should be well. If you have taken out the distributor, then you will need to re-take it out again. And pull out the No: 1 spark plug. Then turn the crankshaft over to the two marks on the front bottom pulley. This will bring the N0: 1 piston to the top of the cylinder head & the mark at 0 on bottom. If one of your vales are open at this point, then turn over the engine once more to the mark. Check & make sure that the N0:1 piston is up, & both vales closed. Now set the distributor back inside, with the rotor pointed at the front right of the engine . Remember this is were to start from when you put the distributor cap back on. At this point front right will be No: 1 & go {clock wise} to 3 4 & 2. Hope you did not need to go through all of this & only needed the firing order. Good Luck!! M.C.S. The Missouri Crack Shot.....Bye Bye!!!
try to change the ignition coil.
yes
If a 1996 Isuzu Oasis 22 does not have fire to the plugs after changing the timing belt, perhaps a spark plug wire got crossed when hooking up the spark plug wires. Check the coil to make sure the right firing order is being used. Check to make sure the distributor did not accidentally get turned when changing the distributor cap. Also, check the wires to the distributor.
