undo the centre hub nut 32mm (loosten before jacking car up). jack the car take the wheel off.

support the subframe and remove the rear subframe bolt (don't be scared). disconnect the steering rack from the hub. (tip turn the hub so the front part is right in then the part where the track rod goes in will be sticking out, hit this corner with a hammer and it will shock the track rod to pop out). disconnect the anti roll bar link from the strut, remove the 2 caliper bolts and put the caliper out of the way. next undo the pinch bolt at the bottom of the hub and take it out, then lower the jack from the subframe so the subframe comes down (you need to do this to avoid damge to the wishbone rear bush). remove the wishbone ball joint from the hub. now you need to get the driveshaft out (tip use the subframe bolt as it has a cone shaped end, put it in the small hole in the driveshaft then hit it with a hammer and the driveshaft should easily pop out. and lastly with the bonnet open there are 3 bolts holding the strut up, undo these and the whole leg will come out. you will obviously need someone to hole the leg underneath while the other person undoes the last nut at the top.

upto you if you want to do it, its not too hard and this is probably the best way to do it.

oh and by the way just 1 mire tip. when you want to put the subframe bolt back in just jack it up and you should be able to get the bolt in no problems. if its out of line which isn't likely then you will see a jhole in the subframe and a hole in the body of the car. use a ratchet handle in here and a hammer to straighten it up

Usually takes about 20-40 minutes to remove. Replacing is very simple as well. However, the front strut replacement will require a front-end alignment to be completed.
