Take a 15 spanner, and put it on the tensioner, (the one in the middle) turn it towards yourself, it will loosen the belt and remove old one from the the pulleys, note the way belt goes and replace with new belt the same way, put on spanner, turn pulley towards yourself, and loop over the Power Steering pulley. done

Depends on which engine. 3.0 v-6 has a serpentine belt. Move the tensioner with a wrench to get the belt off, then replace it. If a 2.5 eng., loosen the tensioner with 13 or 15 mm (can't remember which size), but back off the tensioner bolt. Then, you'll see the belt loosening. You may have to back off the bolt inside the tensioner as well. Re-tighten the same way.
You dont adjust tension, it has belt tensioner that keeps the belt tight. either your belt or tension is bad, my recommendation is to replace the belt first, if the belt remains tight then you are good, if the belt doesnt then replace the tensioner, but beware, since the belt is a serpentine belt, you may experience problems with other systems such as electrical or cooling since they are tied to the belt drive. just monitor it, anc give the engine a bit of time to adjust to proper function. If you do not you will have failure in other areas. after this is fixed run the engine and monitor cooling system, and check alternator for proper operation, should be charging or output around 13-14v consistently. It all depends on how long the belt has been not tight.

Check the battery direct with a volt meter, while running. Should have around 14 volts. Less than 13, then might have to replace the alt.
Super easy! Step 1: Get the idler pulley from autozone for $18 bucks Step 2: Loosen the serpentine belt by turning down the tensioner (to your bottom left); you should be able to do this with your hands...no tool required. Step 3: Take off the S. belt Step 4: Use a 18 mm wrench to turn the idler pulley's center bolt. Step 5: Replace the Idler pulley Step 6: Replace the S. belt Step 7: Push the tensioner back into th eup position to tighten then S. belt. This should take you 13 minutes going slow...

To replace the serpentine belt on a V6 3800 series non-supercharged motor, you must jack up the motor and remove a motor mount. Before going any further make sure that the factory belt diagram sticker is still somewhere under the hood; if not, make a detailed diagram of the path of the belt. You must then use a breaker bar with a socket (I believe 13/64") and pull it toward the front of the car to release the belt tensioner. Put the new belt on, tighten it, put the mount back on, and lower the jack. Personally I believe that this one is a tough job for the average person with limited tools, and may be better to bring it to a mechanic. **Driving without a belt can cause the motor to overheat, will cut power steering, and will not recharge the battery, so you should probably get a tow**
The easiest way to route a serpentine belt, on your Caterpillar see 13 diesel engine, is to follow a diagram. A belt routing diagram can be found at most Caterpillar dealerships.
