fordThe cabin filter on the Focus is located underneath the plastic cowling on the passenger side at the base of the windshield and under the trailing edge of the hood. There are both screws and clips holding this piece of plastic in place and one must be very careful when removing them. An oil change technician broke my cowling doing the change. The piece of plastic only needs to be lifted enough to remove either the filter or the plastic grid that may be in it's place. The grid does not go back in with a filter. It is either one or the other. Most Focuses didn't come from the factory with a filter, but the spot for it is still there. It was a factory option. More detailed instructions and photos of the replacement process can be found on the internet.
