pre-bent or bend yourself?, a couple of hours should be all it takes.
It takes special equipment and line to make brake line. If someone in your area has this equipment they can make new ones. If not you will have to buy them. depending on the year make and model you might be able to purchase factory brake lines pre bent . from the dealer
To find where a brake line is leaking, have a friend push the brake pedal and look for the dripping fluid. Hard brake lines are not "repairable". They must be replaced. To replace one, you must obtain from the parts store an appropriately sized steel line (nothing other than steel). Using the proper tools, it must be bent to shape and flared on the ends. Sadly, no one makes pre-fab brake lines for modern cars (affordably). If you want to tackle this project, talk to your local parts professional about the tools and measurements you'll need --before you start the job--. If you're lucky, the rubber hoses are where you'll find your leak.. simple to replace. Either way, don't forget to bleed the system of air before attempting to drive it again.
If your rear brake lines are leaking, replace them. You can replace the line straight from the proportioning valve for the passenger side. And the driver's side from the junction along the rear of the cab crossmember. Remove the lines and measure their overall length. Autopart stores have straight pipe with fittings that will need to be bent to fit. A manual pipe bender will cost about $12. Just take your time and gradually bend the piping as to not pinch it closed. Keep in mind, there are two types of brake line, metric and SAE. A pink line on the fitting will indicate metric. Enough brake line to do the job should cost you less than $15. Total job cost doing it yourself should be under $35 including the lines, bender and new fluid. You can also get plugs for the remaining lines on your truck so you don't drain your whole system. ___ ___ If you want original brake lines go to Toyota and get the two lines pre-bent. (about $45 each) You have to remove the bed and gas tank and feed the lines through under the cab along the frame to the right front tire where they connect to the proportioning valve. I did my 86 4x4 pu and feeding the lines under the cab is the trickiest part. Once they are screwed in front and back everything lines up and you can fasten them back to the frame where they should be. You will never get them to fit right by bending them your self! The problem is that mud builds up between the gas tank and the frame where the lines run and they rust out. When you wash your truck with a power washer, make sure you clean this area out because this is a common problem with the early 80s models. -------- if your lines are rusted out your parking brake cables are also rusted out so I would not rely on those to stop you. Get it towed to where you need it to be fixed...
The brake lines are 1/8 inch. Rather than buy lines and bend and flare the ends of them it is just as economical to buy pre-formed lines at the auto parts with the ends already flared and the flare nuts on them. Use a flare nut wrench to loosen and tighten the nuts.
The brake lines are 3/16", the fittings are metric a 131 mm wrench to get them off. These lines use a bubble flare, so pre-flared lines are the way to go. Also there are fittings available that switch from the metric bubble flare to the more familiar 45 double flare, if you just need to replace a section of the line.
Located at the carburetor. follow solid pre-bent steel line up from the fuel pump
yes.You can either buy them unbent and bend it yourself or just buy them pre-bent
No offense, but brake lines aren't really a how to kind of thing. You take the old one off and put the new one in. You have options as far as buying a pre bent line from a dealer or buying bulk and cutting the line and making your own flares (flaring tool required.) But honestly if your not sure how to do it you may want to take it to a shop. After all, brakes are fairly important
The prefix of "replace" is "re-."
You need to download the pre-release jar and replace your other jar with the pre-release jar.
