I took a few screws out of the front wheel well mud guard behind the marker light and reached in through there to remove and replace the side marker light.
To replace the side marker bulb on a GM Yukon, first, locate the side marker light assembly on the front or rear of the vehicle. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry off the lens cover or remove any screws holding it in place. Once exposed, twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it, then pull out the old bulb and replace it with a new one. Reassemble the lens cover by snapping it back on or securing it with screws.
Remove the entire light assembly (6-8 TORX head screws) replace the bulb from the rear.
BE sure to replace rear side marker lamps (194) in upper side of each taillight lens..They are hard to see and I had the same problem. Replaced both ( one on each side) and failure report cleared.
Remove the connector from the back of your 1997 VW Jetta side marker lamp. Take hold of the side marker lamp, push in and turn at the same time. The lamp will come out. Reverse the process to install the new side marker lamp.
