Disconnect the battery terminals
Make note of the serpentine belt routing so that you can put it all back.
Using a 1/2 inch breaker bar in the hole of the tensioner arm, back off the pressure enough to get the belt off the alternator.
Disconnect the electrical plugs and all other wires making note of where things go.
Remove the bolts holding the alternator in place.
Put the replacment alternator back in place going in reverse order of the above.
On a 1995 Chevy Cavalier with a 2.2-liter engine, the voltage regulator is integrated into the alternator. To access it, you will need to remove the alternator from the engine bay. Once the alternator is out, the voltage regulator can be found inside the casing of the alternator itself. To replace the alternator on a 1995 Honda Civic disconnect the battery. Disconnect the wiring from the alternator. Loosen the adjustment bracket so the belt has slack. Remove the alternator belt along with the mounting hardware. Pull the alternator and replace it.
