Remove the neg. lead from the battery Remove the clamp that connects the Power Steering pump pressure hose to the valve cover(top of engine where you pour oil) Push pressure hose to the side Loosen the bolt attached to the alternator which will allow you to relieve tension to the drivebelt Push the alternator forward toward the engine block Remove the oil dipstick tube bracket and dipstick from the engine(held on by a top mounted bolt on the dipstick) Remove positive electrical connector from alternator Remove remaining alternator mounting bolts and pull out alternator Install in reverse of removal

The instructions for Changing the alternator on a Galant V6 is WRONG in the Haynes auto manual. The dipstick is not in the way & neither is the bracket for the power steering pressure hose. My daughter's Galant has an aluminum bracket that has the electrical harness attached to it that is in the way.
