To replace the center brake light in a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, first, open the trunk and locate the plastic cover over the brake light assembly. The 1998 Nissan center brake light is a sealed unit. The entire brake light unit will need to be replaced. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the brake light retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new brake light unit.
Get in the back seat and grab the rear brake lite and pull the cover toward you. Bulbs are then remove able.
Look inside the trunk under the light for bolts to remove the light.
I found under the drivers dash on the brake pedal the brake light switch to be faulty. It can operate the tail lights but not the center brake light replace it. This was the case on my 90 vette.
