From the Autozone website, 1st relieve fuel system residual pressure as follows before attempting to change the filter; It is important to release the pressure in the fuel system before performing any work on it. Fuel under pressure could be sprayed onto hot engine components and possibly ignite. # Make sure the engine is cold. # Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Remove the fuel filler cap. # Use a suitable box end wrench on the 6mm service bolt at the top of the fuel filter, while holding the special banjo bolt with another wrench. # Place a rag or shop towel over the 6mm service bolt. # Slowly loosen the 6mm service bolt one complete turn and allow the pressurized fuel to de-pressurize. # Unless the work you are performing requires removal of the service bolt, re-tighten the bolt, once the fuel pressure is relieved, to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm). Continuing on after the fuel pressure has been relieved, disconnect the 2 banjo nuts at the fuel filter lines from the filter housing. There will be a copper gasket washer on each side of the banjo style fittings. Now release the screw that holds the filter into the attach bracket. (it may be easier to remove the entire attach bracket with the filter as an assembly off of the engine compartment wall and work with it on a work bench) Install the new filter in the bracket and assemble the banjo fittings onto the ports of the filter using 4 NEW copper gaskets, 2 on each side of the banjo fittings. With all the lines reinstalled and tight and the battery reconnected from when you did the safety preparations for releiving the residual system fuel pressure back in step 2 above, turn the ignition switch to the "on" position (without starting the engine) while someone checks the filter fuel line connections for leaks. Repeat this at least 3 times so that the fuel pump re-pressurises the fuel lines to build enough pressure for a leak check. Now start the engine and again check the filters fuel lines for leaks. There must be no leakage at all.
