The speedo cable on the 89 prelude is a 2 piece unit. One part originates at the transmission, from the speed sensor unit or something like that. This part mates with the other half midway along the rear side of the valve cover. The second half winds its way to and through the firewall on the drivers side and comes into the cabin just above the clutch pedal or where it would be if an automatic. Here it snakes up and clips onto the back of the gauge cluster. The part that goes into the cabin is easy to disconnect from the cluster but a pain to work out of the firewall.
