How do you tighten up or replace the windshield wiper arm on a Ford Windstar?

There is a 15mm nut holding the wiper arm onto the wiper motor shaft.

Remove the nut and the arm lifts straight off.

I know this because I bought ($32) a new wiper arm when I saw the arm was very loose on the shaft - caused the wiper to barely touch the windshield and horrible wiping even with a brand new blade.

Right after I paid for it, another parts counter guy said that likely all I had to do was tighten the nut - it took me all of 30 seconds to "fix" the aggravating problem. Plus another 5 minutes for returning the wiper arm.

at the end of the arm where it's controlled by the mottor theres a latch of some sort, more like a hood that covers the end of the arm. It looks like part of the arm but if you grab the bottom of the arm where it rotates or a little higher and pull up it will come up pop up like a lever. It covers a bolt that holds down the wiper arm. The driver side comes of pretty easy but the passenger side has some qick to it if your not carefull. They are spring loaded and because of the angle of the passenger side, it wants to fold in on it's self, so hold it firm and try not to let it spring forward making it hard to remove. Make a mark on the bolt to let you know the position to replace or adjust.
