To replace the crankcase gasket on a Yamaha Virago 535, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery. Remove the necessary components, such as the side covers, and drain the oil. Carefully unbolt the crankcase, taking care to note the order of removal, and clean the mating surfaces thoroughly. Install the new gasket, reassemble the crankcase, and replace all removed components before filling the engine with oil and reconnecting the battery.
The Yamaha Virago 535 has a circular window on the front left side of the crankcase, immediately behind the shift linkage. The bike needs to be held upright (second person) and then the use of a flashlight helps see the level in the window. Level should be approximately center of the window.
