Inferior technology is only used on inferior cars. BMW stopped using belt timing in the early nineties. They all have chains.
No, tensioner pulley is at a preset tension, no adjustment can be made. If there is slop in the belt, the spring loaded tensioner should be replaced.
Yes, the BMW M20 engine uses a timing belt. It should be replaced (along with the tensioner) every 70000 kM.
what is cost to replace a clutch in a BMW Z3
Loose accessory drive belt, faulty accessory belt tensioner (if applicable).
These use an auto tensioner. The tensoiner (if in proper working condition), will adjust the belt by itself.
how replace the ac belt at bmw 520 i touring??
If your timing belt has cracks in it both inside and out, replace it!
To replace the alternator on a 2003 BMW Z4, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the drive belt by loosening the tensioner and then disconnect the wiring harness from the alternator. Unbolt the alternator from its mounting bracket, carefully remove it, and install the new alternator by reversing the process. Finally, reattach the drive belt and reconnect the battery terminal.
The timing belt and head gasket are two different things. To replace the head gasket you will have to remove the head necessitating removing the timing belt. If you are going to replace your head gasket it is best to put a new timing belt, a timing belt tensioner and possibly a new water pump. BMW recommends changing the timing belt every 60K miles and the water pump every 120K miles. The belts and pumps are not that expensive and it beats having to go back in and replace them later. Note that on the M3's there is a timing chain rather than a belt.
