A Northstar engine in a Cadillac DTS has eight spark plugs, as it is a V8 engine with two spark plugs per cylinder. The engine features a dual ignition system, which helps improve performance and efficiency. Each of the four cylinders on each bank of the V8 has its own spark plug.
On a Cadillac DTS, the spark plugs are located under the engine’s plastic cover, which needs to be removed to access them. The engine is a Northstar V8, and the spark plugs are positioned on either side of the engine, near the cylinder heads. You'll need to disconnect the ignition coils to reach the spark plugs for replacement or inspection.
A 97 Deville would be equipped with the Northstar V8 engine, therefore, it has 8 spark plugs.
double platinum Bosch gapped at .55 - pretty standard stuff!
Patience and common sense. If you have those, you'll be fine.
Front are easy to access, rear is the same but very tight. Remove plastic engine cover. The Northstar engine uses a coil pack that is directly over the spark plugs. It is right up front on top of the engine. It is held on by approx. 9 screws. Unscrew these and unplug the coilpack. spark plugs are located in the four holes in front of you. Same for rear of engine, just a little harder to get to.

How to Replace spark plugs on 2004 cadillac deville Sls with 4.6 v8 engine
To replace the spark plugs in a 2007 Cadillac DTS, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover if necessary, then locate the spark plug wires and carefully detach them from the plugs. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew the old spark plugs, then install the new plugs, ensuring they are properly gapped and tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, reconnect the spark plug wires and the battery terminal.
The Eldorado of 1995 contains a Northstar transverse (sideways) mounted V-8 engine. The spark plugs on the forward bank of cylinders are right in front of you when you lift the hood. Look for four black wires coming out from under the engine shield and going down in to four litte holes on the camshaft covers. The rear bank are a little harder to get to, but they're back there, on the opposite side of the engine.
