The cost to install a catalytic converter on a Volkswagen can vary widely depending on the model and year of the vehicle, as well as labor costs in your area. On average, the price for parts and labor can range from $500 to $2,500. It's advisable to get a quote from a trusted mechanic for a more accurate estimate based on your specific vehicle. Additionally, aftermarket converters may be less expensive than OEM parts, impacting the overall cost.
Underneath the vehicle attached to the exhaust system.
Should be under the vehicle in front of the muffler
Depends on the year it was manufactured but they usually range from $156.00 up to $700.00. The labor is gonna be more depends on mechanic.
upstream (front) sensor (before catalytic converter)
depending what engine code you have...either on the catalytic converter , or on the exhaust manifold itself
No. A catalytic converter is part of the exhuast system. This is true for all vehicles. If you have problems with you air conditioner you should have a mechanic inspect the components. Any repair will cost you at least $75USD but could cost over $500USD.
It depends..is the car an eco diesel? if so then yes it does have a cat. Check under your hood above the rad for a decal, if it says non catalyst in black bold letters, then no you dont need a catalytic converter. Brendan Schmidt
i would have an exhaust person check it out its probably your catalytic converter going south. Try changing where you buy your gasoline as they may have added to much sulfar when blending.
There are 2 Oxygen sensors on a 97 Jetta. The up stream on is in the pipe just before the Catalytic Converter and the down stream one is just after the Catalytic converter. You can miss them. They both plug in along the fire wall just below the air intake
Bank 2 is the passenger's side of the engine and sensor 2 is behind the catalytic converter on that side.
What about it? All cars will produced NOx. If it failed a e-test it will be because either the catalytic converter is done or the EGR is not working. Or if you have a VR6 then it could be a the secondary air pump not working.
Have vehicle scanned to determine problem
