Change it every 60,000 miles. This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. I also recommend you change the water pump which is driven by the cam belt if you are over the 100,000 mile mark and you have never changed it. This will save you money on labor costs later on.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1989 Acura Legend?

To replace the water pump on a 1989 Acura Legend, first, drain the coolant and remove the drive belts, then detach the timing belt cover. Next, take off the timing belt, followed by the water pump bolts to remove the old pump. Install the new water pump with a new gasket, reassemble the timing belt and cover, and finally, refill the coolant and check for leaks.
