Your owner's manual will list the scheduled maintenance interval. But saying that, the interval may be a short as 36,000 miles and as long as never. My personnel recommendation is to change the Transmission Fluid & filter every 50,000 miles. Transmissions are very expensive to repair, and you can easily spend $1,500. Replacing the fluid and filter every 50,000 miles is good insurance. It for sure will do no harm and may just extend the life of that expensive transmission.

What does transmission service mean?

Servicing your transmission should be done every 30,000 to 40,000 kilometers. The service is required due to extreme cold, extreme heat and weather conditions that cause the transmission to wear. The technician will check and or change the fluid, inspect the transmission for leaks and change the transmission filter. The service is meant to prolong the life of your vehicles transmission and is relatively inexpensive over the life of your vehicle.
