I owned a 1984 Toyota Trecel and it was a Negative Ground system. This means that the battery's negative terminal had a ground strap attached from the negative terminal to the car's metal frame. I've owned two 1975 Toyota celicas made for the United States and the batteries were also negative grounded. You would probably have to go back to the late 20s and 30s in the United States to find a positive grounded battery system. Old Ford Model A cars and trucks in the twenties for example were positive grounded battery systems.
The fuel pump on a 1983 Toyota Tercel is located inside the fuel tank. It sucks fuel from the tank and pushed to the engine.

In a 1983 Toyota Tercel, the thermostat is located in the engine compartment, specifically at the end of the upper radiator hose where it connects to the engine. To access it, you'll need to remove the hose and the thermostat housing, which is typically secured by bolts. Make sure to drain some coolant before starting the procedure to avoid spills.
I doubt it but I am not 100% sure. It is unlikely in 1983 BMW was using a positive ground system. You can easily find out. Trace the negative battery cable and see where it goes. It is is attached to ground then it is a negative ground system.
Yes. You should be able to get to it by removing the rear seat, but some you can't and you have to remove the fuel tank.
On my 1990 Tercel it turns counter-clockwise. It's in there tight, but mine came out. Spray some penetrating oil on it first and let it soak. You don't want to break it off when it comes out. Especially if it's been in there for awhile.
Have the charging system checked. The light comes on when there is a charging system problem. it may be a battery, alternator or a battery problem.
Toyota TownAce was created in 1983.
